People’s Liberation Party (HKP) expresses its rejection of the U.S. energy blockade against Cuba

The Consul General of Cuba in Istanbul, Raúl E. Madrigal Cárdenas, paid a working visit to the headquarters of the Halkın Kurtuluş Partisi (HKP), where he held a fruitful exchange with members of the leadership of this Turkish political organization.

The meeting was attended by HKP Vice President Mustafa Sahbaz; Secretary General Ali Serdar Cingi; Pinar Akbina Karaman, Member of the Central Executive Committee and Istanbul Provincial Chair; as well as other members of the Party’s leadership and representatives of its youth branch.

HKP leaders conveyed their firm support for the Revolutionary Government and the Cuban people. They reiterated their rejection of the energy blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba, which constitutes an escalation of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade in force since 1961, and described the attempts to economically suffocate the Island as an act of genocide against the Cuban people.

For his part, the Consul General expressed gratitude for the solidarity shown and highlighted the resilience of the Cuban people in the face of more than six decades of aggression and unilateral coercive measures. He underscored the importance of continuing to strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the peoples of Cuba and Türkiye, as well as coordination with political and social forces that defend sovereignty, social justice, and international law.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to exchange views on the current international situation, the challenges Cuba faces due to the tightening of the blockade, and the prospects for expanding solidarity initiatives in Türkiye.
