The Permanent Mission of Cuba to the United Nations pays tribute to Fidel, undisputed revolutionary leader of universal stature.

New York, November 21, 2018. The Permanent Mission of Cuba to the United Nations paid tribute this evening to the immortal figure of Fidel Castro Ruz, Historical Leader of the Cuban Revolution, who died on November 25, 2016, at age 90. It was a simple but profound and full of love ceremony attended also by members of the solidarity movement with Cuba in this city.

Members of Venceremos Brigade and July26 Coalition, of the solidarity movement, recalled that the figure of the Commander was inspiring not only for the Cuban revolutionaries, but also for the revolutionaries of the world, who saw in Cuba after 1959, a role model of solidarity and respect for human beings.

Yaima de Armas Bonchang, representing the young diplomats of the Mission, expressed her total commitment to continue building and improving an independent and sovereign socialist nation, whose creator was Fidel Castro Ruz.

Finally, the Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations, Ambassador Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo, stressed that we must talk about Fidel in the present tense, because his conceptions and ideas, are the foundation of the Cuban nation nowadays. She added that he has been recognized for his stature as a politician and as an outstanding statesman; while for the peoples of the world he is and will be the voice of rebellion, of resistance, of the humble, of the marginalized and of the hope of the peoples to achieve a better future.

The diplomat also stated how the leader turned solidarity with other peoples into an essential feature of the Cuban Revolution, by teaching us that the struggle for social justice has no borders.

Rodriguez Camejo ended her heartfelt statement affirming that today, when the current US administration chooses to strengthen the policy of hostility and blockade against Cuba, the undefeated Commander in Chief guides this battle, in which no concessions will be made, no principles will be negotiated., no conditions of any kind will be accepted, nor will we renounce sovereignty and independence.

Once again, the New York evening heard the energetic shouts of long live our undefeated and always present Commander in Chief Fidel! Viva la Revolución Cubana! Hasta la Victoria Siempre! Patria o Muerte, Venceremos! by Cubans and Americans, united by the better world that Fidel dreamed of.
