Permanent Secretary of Foreign Affairs receives Cuban Ambassador

Uganda, October 26, 2018.- Ambassador Patrick Mugoya, permanent secretary of Foreign Affairs, received the Cuban Ambassador Antonio Luis Pubillones Izaguirre at the Ugandan Foreign Ministry's headquarters on Friday morning.

During the cordial meeting, both diplomats expressed their satisfaction for the good state of the bilateral relations and the historical bonds of friendship and solidarity between both countries. They also reiterated the will of their respective governments and peoples to continue working for their further strengthening.

The occasion was also propitious for Pubillones to thank Mugoya for the traditional support of the Ugandan Government for the Cuban resolution against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba that has lasted more than 56 years.

Mugoya, for his part, thanked Cuba for its contribution to the African continent and particularly to his country in the sectors of health and education and assured the Ambassador that Uganda will vote again in favor of Cuba on October 31, when it will submit to the consideration of the General Assembly of the United Nations for the twenty-seventh consecutive time the Cuban resolution that calls for an end to the unjust and illegal US blockade.
