Manila, January 3, 2026. We the Philippines-Cuba Cultural and Friendship Association (PhilCuba) condemn in the strongest possible terms the grave terroristic aggression by the government of the United States of America in its imperialist bombing campaign of Venezuelan civilian and military localities in the capitol Caracas, and the states of Miranda, Aragua, and La Guaira.
Bombings have also been reported in the Federal Legislative Palace as well as the Mausoleum of Hugo Chavez - owing to their nature as civilian and historical sites, the
bombing of these sites constitute war crimes.
Over the past months, the US government has conducted extra-judicial killings with at least 115 deaths noted from bombing boats off the coast of Venezuela and the Caribbean. These can also be considered war crimes through the repeated bombing of helpless shipwrecked passengers. They are also guilty of outright piracy in the seizure of oil tankers around Venezuela.
As the updates roll in we are horrified at the reports that President #NicolasMaduro and his wife have been kidnapped and brought to the US, similar in form to Washington’s December 20, 1989 invasion of Panama that resulted in the kidnapping of Panamanian dictator Gen. Manuel Noriega (who was later imprisoned in the US for over two decades).
This attack is a direct manifestation of the imperialist designs of the 2025 National Security Strategy of the US Government to seize control of the entire Western Hemisphere as part of their colonial claims via the Trump Corollary to the Monroe Doctrine. In this regime change effort, the US government wants to put in Maduro's place someone else who would abide by Washington's desire to make Venezuela serve its economic and political needs. It wants a lackey in the Palacio de Miraflores who could make it easy for the US to take control of Venezuela's strategic resources including the world’s largest oil reserves; gold; and other minerals to satisfy its imperialist greed.
The attack on Venezuela is an ominous threat against the sovereignty of all nations, and especially against #Cuba, Nicaragua, and other Latin American states. It is tantamount to an act of war.
We call upon the United Nations and other international bodies to immediately denounce these attacks and deploy actions to cease the military attacks on Venezuela.
The United States must also immediately present President Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores and ensure their safe return back to their country.
Finally, we call upon all nations horrified by this shameless act to immediately call on their governments to denounce this flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter. The United States of America deserves to be a global pariah state lest we allow it to drive the entire world into another stage of imperialist world conflict.
