Kingston, 20 March 2024. Former Jamaican Prime Minister and great friend of Cuba P.J. Patterson condemned the genocidal policy of the blockade imposed by the US government and the inclusion of our country, without justified reasons, in the spurious list of countries sponsoring terrorism.
During his intervention at the event "Strengthening cooperation between African and Caribbean states. Facing changes, creating solutions", Patterson also denounced the serious effects of these unilateral measures on Cuba's economic relations with third countries and financial institutions. He also expressed his gratitude for the opportunities for higher education provided by our country to young people around the world, and acknowledged the work of Cuban health and education collaborators who are currently working in Jamaica.
The event, organised by the University of the West Indies (UWI) and the PJ Patterson Institute for the Promotion of Africa and the Caribbean, was attended by the Ambassador of Cuba in Jamaica, Fermín Quiñones Sánchez.
