Kingston, Jamaica, 24 June 2020. The People's National Party Youth Organization (PNPYO) of Jamaica sent the Cuban Embassy a message of solidarity with the Cuban people in the context of the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
The document, issued by Krystal Tomlinson, PNPYO President, and Dexroy Martin, its Secretary General, commends the ties of friendship and cooperation between Cuba and Jamaica and salutes those who are on the front line of the fight against the pandemic for “their continued dedication, patience and hard work in this time of crisis. ”
Cuba and Jamaica cooperation in health dates back to the 1970s in the last century. Currently, 433 Cuban health-care professionals serve in Jamaica, including a supporting brigade from the ‘Henry Reeve’ International Contingent of Doctors Specialized in Disaster Situations and Serious Epidemics who arrived in the Caribbean island on March 21 to assist with the fight against the pandemic.
