Cairo, April 14, 2025. The portal of the Hispano-Arab League in Egypt, published an extensive article on Cuban medical missions, while denouncing the aggressiveness of the Trump administration against them.
In the article entitled ʺCuba condemns suspension of visas to the U.S. for cubans officials linked to international medical cooperation agreements”, the Portal addresses the fierce campaign unleashed by the U.S. State Department against Cuba's medical missions, which aims to affect the health services of millions in Cuba and the world, to benefit special interest groups for which Secretary of State Marco Rubio does guarantee the squandering of U.S. taxpayer funds.
It also stresses that Cuba's international medical cooperation programs do not have any of the characteristics that define an operation of exploitation or trafficking in persons and that Cuba's medical programs in the world are in line with the United Nations schemes for South-South cooperation, where countries like Cuba contribute their human resources and others that do not have those human resources compensate with income for the services provided, a part of this income goes to the contracted and another part directly to the Cuban public health system.
The article concludes that the objective of attacking Cuban medical cooperation is to deprive the country of an important source of income from the export of these services and to increase the stagnation of the Cuban economy, thus provoking a shortage of everything that will lead to a popular uprising against the government, which constitutes a flagrant violation of the independence and sovereignty of Cuba.
