Presentations about Cuba in Växjö

Växjö, November 5, 2024 - As part of the actions aimed at continuing to raise awareness of the Cuban reality in Sweden, the Cuban Ambassador to Sweden, Alba Soto, held exchanges in the city with high school students, friends of Cuba and others.

During the visit to the Växjö Katedarlskolan, the Cuban diplomat fulfilled an invitation to exchange with fifty students who are taking a course in "International Relations" within their Social Sciences study program.

The young people were interested in various aspects of the current Cuban socioeconomic and political situation, as well as in the work carried out by the diplomatic staff in the representation of their country.

In the evening, a discussion took place at the “Innegarden solidaritet” venue, where she addressed Cuba’s recent victory at the UNGA, by obtaining almost unanimous support for the Cuban resolution against the blockade; the consequences of Cuba’s permanence on the List of Countries that Supposedly Sponsor Terrorism, and the significance of the US blockade in the daily life of the Cuban population.

In this context, she thanked the solidarity with Cuba, ratified Cuba’s solidarity with the Palestinian People, the importance of continuing to fight to remove Cuba from the illegal list and reiterated the decision of the Cuban people to continue their path in the construction of socialism. A dozen questions showed the interest in the topics discussed.

The occasion was also a good opportunity to hold an exchange with the President of the Swedish-Cuban Association, Matías Diessler, and discuss the activities and campaigns that the organization is working on.

The Ambassador thanked the comrades of the Communist Party in Växjö, in particular Professor Jan Ake Karlsson, and the branch of the Swedish-Cuban Friendship Association, for organizing the meetings.
