Guyana, Georgetown. February 26th, 2024.The announcement took place during the opening ceremony of the 46th. Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) taking place in Guyana from February 25 to 28. The Guyanese president, Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, expressed the intention to work with LABIOFAM and BIOCUBAFARMA, and highlighted the production of biotechnological products to support the development of agriculture.
Guyana presides over CARICOM for the first half of 2024. The President of Guyana is also permanently responsible for agriculture and food security among the CARICOM Heads of Government, an organization that has a Ministerial Task Force for food production, with the objective of mobilizing resources to achieve the objective of reducing their regional import of food by 25% by the year 2025.
During the meeting of CARICOM Heads of Government, the preservation of the region as a Zone of Peace, the issue of Haiti, regional initiatives for food and energy security and to confront the climate crisis, will be addressed.
