Havana, May 19.- The president of the Republic of Cuba and first secretary of the Communist Party, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, will participate in the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, which will take place in videoconference format on May 21 .
Cuba participated for the first time in this type of event on December 11, 2020, when it was granted observer status in the regional bloc. On that occasion, President Díaz-Canel ratified our commitment to develop economic, commercial and cooperation ties with the Union and its Member States, to which we are joined by traditional ties of friendship and solidarity.
The Supreme Eurasian Economic Council is the highest body of the Union. It is made up of the heads of the member states of this organization and meets at least once a year. In its working meetings fundamental questions about the activities of the Union are discussed and the strategy, directions and perspectives for the development of integration are outlined.
