Copenhagen, December 7, 2021. The President of the Danish Parliament, Henrik Dam Kristesen, received at the local headquarters, in the Christiamborg Palace, the Ambassador of Cuba to the Kingdom of Denmark, Roger López García.
The Cuban diplomat conveyed the will of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba (ANPP), the Cuban legislative body, to promote inter-parliamentary relations, as a contribution to the development of ties of friendship between the two countries and for the benefit of both peoples.
In his intervention, López García referred to the new legal system of the nation, from the approval of the 2019 Constitution that was ratified in a popular referendum with the support of 86.85% of the voters, and a reflection of a widely participatory process, civic and democratic.
The Antillean representative explained to his host, the work of the Cuban National Assembly, with the updating of its socioeconomic model, the follow-up of the tasks for the economic development of the country, and the creation of various initiatives after the promotion of micro, small and medium-sized companies, with which greater possibilities are opened to develop economic ties with Cuba.
For his part, the parliamentarian agreed on the desire to contribute to strengthening the ties of friendship between the Parliaments of Cuba and Denmark, confirmed the existence of spaces to advance bilateral ties, and praised the results achieved by our country in the production of vaccines to immunize the Cuban population.
During the meeting, the Ambassador addressed the impact of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on our country by the United States, along with the plans to destabilize the country.
Christiansborg Palace is a government building located on the islet of Slotsholmen, in Copenhagen, Denmark. It is the seat of the Folketing (Danish Parliament), the Prime Minister's office and the Danish Supreme Court.
