President of Guyana pays tribute to the Martyrs of Barbados

Georgetown, October 6th, 2020. The President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana,  Excellency Dr. Irfaan Alì, laid a wreath in front of the Monument to the Victims of Terrorism which is located in the University of Guyana and perpetuates the memory of those who died as a result of the terrorist attack against Cubana de Aviación flight CU-455, which occurred on October 6, 1976, 44 years ago, in which 73 people perished, of them 57 Cuban citizens, 11 Guyanese and 5 Koreans. This abominable crime was masterminded by the terrorists Luis Posada Carriles and Orlando Bosch, who received support and protection from the Central Intelligence Agency of the Government of the United States of America.

The Ambassador of Cuba, Narciso Reinaldo Amador, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, the Honorable Charles Ramson, the Honorary Consul of Barbados, Captain Gerry Gouveia, and Mr. Jeffrey Thomas, a relative of the Guyanese victims also laid a wreath by the monument.

There were also attending the tribute, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Guyana, Honorable Hugh Hilton Todd, and the President of the Movement of Solidarity with Cuba, Mr. Halim Khan, as well as officials and workers of the diplomatic mission and a representation of the Cuban Medical Brigade
