President of the House of Representatives of the Jamaican Parliament receives Ambassador of Cuba to Jamaica

Kingston, 21 October 2025. The Ambassador of Cuba to Jamaica, Fermín Quiñones Sánchez, was received in a farewell audience by the Honourable Juliet Holness, MP, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Jamaica, who was accompanied by Collen Lowe, Secretary of the legislative body.

During the exchange, the Cuban diplomat provided an update on the complex economic situation facing our country as a result of the intensification of the genocidal blockade policy imposed by the United States government against the Cuban people, and the island's continued inclusion on the illegal list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism, drawn up unilaterally by the White House. He thanked the Jamaican government and people for their continued support in our people's just struggle, as well as for the Parliament's approval of the motion against the blockade for seventeen consecutive years.

The Jamaican MP, for her part, reaffirmed her solidarity with the Cuban people and government, and the continued support of the legislative body she presides over in denouncing and rejecting the blockade. She recognised the resilience of the Greater Antilles in the face of adversity and in defence of its independence, sovereignty and national culture.

Both parties reaffirmed their interest in strengthening exchanges between the legislative bodies of both nations.
