President of the Kenyan Senate received the Cuban Ambassador.

Nairobi, March 28.Senator Ekwee Ethuru, President of the Senate of Kenya, welcomed the Cuban Ambassador, Ernesto Gómez Díaz, who paid him a courtesy call at his office in the Parliament.

The cordial meeting allowed the Kenyan leader to express his respect and admiration for the Commander in Chief of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, and to thank Cuba for the support it has provided to Africa since the years of the struggle against colonialism. Hon. Ethuru recognized the successes of the Island in health and education fields and expressed his conviction that both countries will go forward in order to strengthen the existing bilateral cooperation.

For his part, the Cuban diplomat expressed his appreciation for the current state of relations between the two countries and reiterated Cuba's willingness to strengthen ties of cooperation in several areas and expressed his satisfaction for the opening of the Kenyan Embassy in Havana last year. Later, Gómez Díaz thanked Kenya for its solidarity with Cuba and for its support in the struggle against the blockade imposed by the United States on his country.

The Kenyan Parliament is bicameral: the National Assembly and the Senate, the latter consisting of 68 members, including its President.
