Namibia, April 8th, 2022 – H.E. Dr. Hage Geingob, President of the Republic of Namibia, called for the lifting of the blockade against Cuba, in his annual State of the Nation Address.
In relation to the US sanctions against the Cuban people, the Namibian president also stated: "We remain committed to a world where our Cuban brothers and sisters can enjoy their economic freedom and sovereignty without interference."
President Geingob's words are in keeping with Namibia's historical position of support for Cuba. The African country and its leaders have always expressed their condemnation of the genocidal policies of the United States against Cuba, in dissimilar multilateral spaces, among which the UN and the African Union stand out.
In his speech, the Namibian Head of State, who is also president of the SWAPO Party, addressed other issues related to the international agenda and the country's internal situation.
