Havana, September 17th. The President of the National Assembly of People's Power, Esteban Lazo Hernández, received the President of the Republic of Seychelles, His Excellency Mr. Wavel Ramkalwan, at the Cuban Parliament's headquarters in the National Capitol.
The President of the Cuban Parliament emphasized the will to strengthen the favorable relations existing between both national Assemblies. He highlighted the historic ties of brotherhood between Cuba and Africa, forged during the struggle for independence of several African nations and expressed special gratitude for the support of the African continent and the Seychelles for the United Nations resolutions demanding to put an end to the economic, financial and commercial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba.
The President of the Cuban Parliament, Esteban Lazo, also highlighted the importance of cooperation with Seychelles in areas such as health and the possibilities of strengthening ties in other areas such as sports, education and the fight against climate change.
During the dialogue, the President of the Republic of Seychelles ratified his pleasure at being in Havana, and the possibility of sharing with important governmental and parliamentary authorities, leading a delegation of his country, in the context of the 46 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
In his words, he expressed his certainty that this visit will contribute to the strengthening of the historic ties of friendship that unite both peoples and to the promotion of economic-commercial ties and cooperation in various areas between Cuba and Seychelles, including addressing the challenges of climate change.
