Havana, January 31, 2025 – The Honorable Joshua Chinedu Obika, President of the Nigeria-Cuba Friendship Group of the House of Representatives of Nigeria, actively participated in the 6th International Conference for the Balance of the World, held from January 28 to 31 in Havana, Cuba.
During his visit, Hon. Obika had the honor of meeting with Esteban Lazo Hernández, President of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba. The dialogue reaffirmed the historic bonds of friendship and solidarity between Nigeria and Cuba and explored opportunities to strengthen inter-parliamentary cooperation.
As part of his agenda, Hon. Obika also held a meeting with the Director and members of the Africa and Middle East Department of the Cuban National Assembly. The meeting served as a platform to discuss shared interests and emphasized the importance of fostering legislative and political exchange between the two nations.
In addition, he participated in the forum of parliamentarians held during the Conference, which brought together representatives from around 100 countries. The forum provided a valuable space for exchanging views on pressing global challenges and the need to promote a more just, inclusive, and balanced international order.
In an effort to promote further bilateral collaboration, Hon. Obika also met with executives from Servicios Médicos Cubanos (Cuban Medical Services), where they explored possibilities for cooperation in the field of healthcare—an area in which Cuba is internationally recognized for its achievements and strong spirit of solidarity.
Hon. Joshua Chinedu Obika’s participation in this important international forum reflects the strong commitment of the Nigerian Parliament to parliamentary diplomacy, international solidarity, and the pursuit of collective solutions to the common challenges facing humanity.
