President of the Republic, J. Ramos-Horta received the Ambassador of Cuba, Grisel Alina Aldama Inniss, at the Nicolau Lobato Presidential Palace today to review and strengthen the long-standing bilateral cooperation between the two nations.
The meeting focused on the vital work of the Cuban Medical Brigade, which continues to provide essential healthcare services across all twelve municipalities and the Special Region of Oé-Cusse Ambeno (RAEOA). Both the President and the Ambassador explored opportunities to expand this successful partnership into new social and economic sectors, ensuring continued support for Timor-Leste’s national development.
During the audience, Ambassador Aldama Inniss extended an invitation to the Head of State for a commemorative event marking the centenary of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz on August 13. President Ramos-Horta reaffirmed Timor-Leste's enduring solidarity with Cuba, a bond that has remained steadfast since the early days of the country's independence in the 21st century.
The President expressed his appreciation for Cuba’s historical support and indicated his desire to attend the embassy's tribute, coordinating with his busy national and international schedule to honor the shared history between the two peoples.
