PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC EXPRESSES DISAGREEMENT WITH US POLICY OF BLOCKADE AGAINST CUBA AT 80TH UNGA.

Accra. 25 September. As part of Ghana’s participation in the regular session of the 80th United Nations General Assembly the President of the Republic, H.E. Mr. John Dramani Mahama, expressed his disagreement with the United States’ policy of economic sanctions against Cuba and, addressing the plenary, the statesman revealed: “And while I am making requests, I’d like to call on the removal of the blockade on Cuba, as of Kwame Nkrumah, our nations’ founder has famously said: We seek to be friends of all, and enemies to none. The Cuban people shed their blood on African soil in the fight against Apartheid and indeed Cuba has continued to be a faithful friend of Africa.”
