KINGSTON, JAMAICA, Jauary 16, 2018. President of the Senate of Jamaica, Hon. Thomas Tavares-Finson, welcomed to Jamaica the First Deputy Minister of Culture of Cuba, María Elena Salgado, and the accompanying delegation.
Durig the meeting, celebrated last Monday, January 15, the Jamaican Senator wished success to Salgado during her visit to Jamaica and also considered that there's much left to do in the area of culture for the benefit of both peoples.
Tavares-Finson, also President of the National Gallery of Jamaica, praised the strategy and results of the Government of Cuba to bring the arts to all regions of the country, as well as its inclusive and free educational system for the teaching of arts.
First Deputy Minister of Culture offered a detailed explanation of the objectives of the visit and manifested the desire of her ministry and Government to advance in the development of cultural relations between Cuba and Jamaica.
Salgado availed the opportunity to extend an invitation to the President of the Senate to attend the Fire Festival that's celebrated each year in Santiago de Cuba having Puerto Rico as the invited country in the upcoming 2018 edition.
Maria Elena Salgado is accompanied by Kenelma Carvajal, Deputy Minister of Culture as well as other senior officials from the ministries of Culture and Foreign Trade and Investment.
