Havana, September 18th. The President of Seychelles, H.E. Mr. Wavel Ramkalwan, held a cordial meeting with the Cuban minister of Health, Dr. José Ángel Portal Miranda. During the meeting, they exchanged on the historical cooperation links in the health field between Cuba and Seychelles and the existing potentialities to continue their development.
The Seychelles President thanked the important collaboration of the Cuban Medical Brigade in Seychelles, about which he said that they are a fundamental pillar in supporting the Seychelles health system. There are currently 40 Cuban doctors and health professionals working in the country, led by Dr. Yonanny Berriel Muñoz, whose efforts and dedication have earned the gratitude and admiration of the Seychellois people.
As part of his visit to Cuban health and scientific institutions, President Ramkalawan toured the “La Pradera” International Rehabilitation Center and met at the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB) with the president of the Biocubafarma business group, PhD. Mayda Mauri Pérez, where he learned about the development of Cuban biotechnological and pharmaceutical products. The Seychellois Head of State was also received by PhD. Martha Ayala Avila, director of the CIGB.
