The President of the Court of Cassation, Mehmet Akarca, received Dr. Ruben Remigio Ferro, President of the Supreme People's Court of the Republic of Cuba and the delegation accompanying him, who paid a visit to Turkey between November 24 and 28 at the official invitation of the Presidency of the Court of Cassation.
In his speech, Akarca highlighted the multifaceted relations between Turkey and Cuba in the political and cultural fields and affirmed that the visit will strengthen legal cooperation between the two countries. Akarca and Ferro expressed their mutual satisfaction for the visit.
During the reception held at the Council of Presidents Hall, the introduction, functioning and structure of the Court of Cassation, the Court's Principles of Judicial Ethics and the decisions of the Advisory Council on Ethics, the Istanbul Declaration on Transparency in the Judiciary, the Principles of Excellence in the Courts of Appeal and judicial reform activities were briefed.
Also participating in the reception were the Secretary General of the Court of Cassation Fevzi Yıldırım, Director International Relations and Cooperation of the Supreme People's Court of the Republic of Cuba Judge Dr. Pedro Medina Gutierrez and Cuban Embassy Counselor Luis Javier Cabañas.
