Press in Indonesia highlights Fidel's legacy in the development of Cuban medicine, despite a blockade for more than half a century

Jakarta, May 26.- With a question mark as a title about the key for Cuba to have so many doctors, the Indonesian digital newspaper Berdikarionline, has underlined the capacity of the Caribbean Island in terms of the development achieved in health, despite being subjected to a blockade by more than half a century and being a poor country.

Paraphrasing the Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro: "Our country works to train doctors and scientists, not to build nuclear bombs and weapons," the text compares the number of doctors in Cuba and in the United States, highlighting the lower proportion per thousand inhabitants in the latter, despite being the richest country in the world.

The article sustains that the answer to the title question lies in the courage and priority that the Cuban Government grants to free education and health for its people, since the beginning of the Revolution, despite limited economic resources and in line with Lenin's precepts: "save economically on anything, except in education."

Referring to the training of medical students in Cuba, under the premise of going where the Revolution and Humanity need them, the article refers to the recent deployment of Cuban doctors to combat the current health emergency in various nations of the world, independently of ethnic origin, religion, nationality, economic resources and even political affiliation, only as the duty of the doctor.

The article concludes by valuing that the Greater Antilles has erected a revolutionary medical system, in accordance with the ideals of its revolutionary parents, especially Fidel Castro and Che Guevara.
