Jakarta, May 10.- The digital newspaper Republika.ID published an article reporting the visit to Cuba of the Mexican president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, as part of a regional tour of Central America and the Caribbean.
During the visit of the Mexican president to the largest of the Antilles, the article highlights, the signing of several agreements between the two countries to expand cooperation in the fields of public health, culture and economics.
Likewise, the text indicates that President López Obrador announced the hiring of 500 Cuban doctors to work in Mexico, noting that the measure is taken to cover the shortage of professional medical personnel. The article cites: "We will also hire doctors from Cuba who will work in our country, we made this decision because we do not have the doctors we need in the country," said López Obrador.
The text also states that the President of Mexico had announced in April that his country would vaccinate more children against Covid-19 and urged world health authorities to provide the doses that have been ordered for this purpose. Mexico will buy vaccines from Cuba to vaccinate children up to two years old. "It gave (Cuba) a good result," said the President.
The indonesian newspaper´s article, in its final part, reports that López Obrador has become one of the most influential heads of state in Latin America, who courageously criticizes US policies towards the region and against Cuba. It also states that the Mexican president usually classifies US sanctions against Cuba as "depraved" and praises the COVID-19 vaccines produced by Cuba, despite the ironclad US blockade, which, according to the article: "has earned him the affection of the Cuban people.
