Jakarta, June 21.- Under the title: "The United States blockade makes it difficult to purchase supplies necessary for the development of Cuban vaccines," the digital newspaper RMOL published an article publicizing the effects caused by the blockade policy economic, commercial and financial of the United States against Cuba, reinforced even in the difficult circumstances in which the world is waging the battle against the current Pandemic and making it difficult to purchase the necessary supplies for the development of Cuban vaccines.
The article emphasizes that during the Donald Trump administration the blockade was tightened with more than 240 measures, of which 55 were taken in the context of COVID-19, which has deepened the economic crisis in the small Caribbean island and even hindered access to medicines, technology, food and essential products to face Covid 19.
Referring to what was published by the Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez on his Twitter account, the text highlights that the United States blockade has prevented the purchase of supplies necessary for the production of the vaccines that his country is developing, having to buy them from distant nations and prolonging the time for the production of own vaccines.
The text also refers to Elena Gentili, director in Havana of the International Organization Oxfam (Oxford Committee to Help Against Hunger), when presenting the report: “Right to live without blockade: Impacts of the United States sanctions on the Cuban population and women's lives, ”he stressed what it has meant for the Island to face the current Pandemic under an iron blockade for almost 60 years.
The text also states that Oxfam has witnessed how the US embargo limited Cuba's ability to face the current global health crisis and access to health supplies, while condemning the criminal blockade of Washington and urging a change in the US policy toward Cuba.
