Cuba bids farewell to the year 2021 proud of having preserved its conquests amid the most difficult conditions. In a year in which the enemies persisted in the desire to destroy the Cuban Revolution, our unrepentant island once again grew in the face of the direst economic and material limitations, and in the face of all the interventionist and destabilizing attempts.
Just in the period in which the pandemic showed its most aggressive side, with irreparable losses inside and outside the country, Cuban science renewed hope with three vaccines and two vaccine candidates of domestic manufacture, the first from Latin America and the Caribbean.
During this challenging year, of profound and urgent economic and social transformations, the will that no one is left behind has been maintained. While it is committed to the strengthening of the socialist state enterprise, and the diversification of economic actors, the attention to communities and people in vulnerable situation is promoted with equal effort.
As expressed by the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, "only an organized country, with a united leadership around a common purpose: the safeguarding of the nation can set itself the highest goals in the most difficult hours."
That is why the Cuban people bids farewell to 2021 proud of their Socialist Revolution, free of hatred, and with the same will to promote friendship, solidarity and cooperation with all the peoples of the world.
With that conviction, under the undying guidance of Fidel and the wisdom of Raúl, we will welcome 2022 with the certainty that Cuba lives and grows in the resistance of its people.
