The relevance and importance of this Committee, particularly in the current international context where some countries repeatedly attempt to impose reinterpretations of the principles and purposes of the Charter of the United Nations in order to promote interventionist and interfering political agendas, to the detriment of the integrity and sovereignty of developing countries, was also particularly stressed by the Cuban diplomat, who also condemned the continuous attempts to hinder the work of this important organ.
Rodríguez Abascal recognized the Special Committee as the enabling environment to negotiate any amendment to the Charter of the United Nations and to propose recommendations that favor the implementation of all the provisions contained in this significant instrument.
