Press release: Cuban Ambassador meets with NYC students from the Junior Ambassadors program.

New York, May 29, 2018. On the afternoon of May 29, the Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations, Ambassador Anayansi Rodriguez Camejo, met with a group of students from the Academy of Applied Sciences and Technology, located at the Bronx, a New York City neighborhood. The visit is part of the program sponsored by the Mayor’s Office, named NYC Junior Ambassadors, whose goal is to involve middle-school students in the work and objectives of the United Nations, from the privilege of having in the city the headquarters of the world organization.

The Cuban diplomat explained to a teenage audience the characteristics of Cuba and the essence of its political, economic and social system, as well as the island's commitment to multilateralism and the noble purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations. She referred, among other issues of priority in the multilateral sphere, to Cuba's achievement of sustainable development goals, which are in line with the Cuban socialist development program; to the solidarity cooperation of the island with other developing nations and to the battle against the economic, commercial and financial blockade that the United States has imposed on Cuba for almost six decades.
