New York, 6 June 2017. The Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Environment of Cuba, José Fidel Santana Núñez, held a bilateral meeting with his Italian counterpart, Silvia Velo, within the framework of the United Nations Conference to Support the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14: “Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development”.
During the meeting, both parts exchanged on the possibility to sign a memorandum of understanding for Climate Change Cooperation, specifically on the identification of vulnerabilities, risk, adjustment and mitigation assessments. Both parts were certain it is an issue of mutual interest, given future rising sea-level challenges to be faced.
