Press Release: Documentary ‘Gema de Cuba’ screened with the presence of filmmakers Estela and Ernesto Bravo.

New York, 13 June 2017.  Members of the Permanent Mission of Cuba to the United Nations gathered this afternoon with the prestigious film director Estela Bravo and her husband Ernesto Bravo for the screening of her documentary “Gema de Cuba”.

In her welcoming words, Ambassador Ana Silvia Rodríguez Abascal, praised the friendship and nearness to Cuba and its Revolution of the filmmakers, who were awarded by the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) with the Medal of Friendship, for their support and solidarity to the Cuban Government and people, as well as their strong ties with the Caribbean country where they decided to live more than 50 years ago.

After the screening of that story full of huge challenges but also full of love and human sensitivity, the makers exchanged with the members of the Mission in an animated Q & A session, through which among other topics of interest, they offered some details on their current work related with film material, ‘The Bravos’, revealing their origin and the history of their lives.
