New York, 6 December 2016. - On Monday evening, the Episcopal Church “All Souls Episcopal Church” embraced the tribute of the black community to Fidel Castro Ruz. The event organized by the 12 December Movement and summoned by its International Secretariat President, Roger Wareham, was attended by members of several organizations based in this city, defenders of the rights of the black community.
Supported by audiovisuals, the event comprised statements which conveyed the connection to the life and work of Fidel, inspired by the visits of the Commander to Harlem, where many of those attending participated and spontaneously shared their experiences.
Accompanied by members of the Permanent Mission of Cuba to the United Nations, Ambassador Ana Silvia Rodríguez Abascal, while expressing how exciting it always is to return to Harlem, she highlighted ‘We celebrate his life because Fidel has not died, Fidel has multiplied in all of us, and every one of us is Fidel’. In this way, she expressed her gratefulness to the people of Harlem for their never-ending solidarity to the Cuban Revolution and huge expressions of respect, admiration and affection for our beloved Fidel, to which the audience replied with emotion and claims of ‘Long live the Cuban Revolution’, ‘Long live the spirit of Fidel Castro’.
