New York, April 4, 2018. The Permanent Mission of Cuba to the United Nations, welcomed today a group of students from the Dominican Republic and Mexico, who are attending the New York Model United Nations for Latin America and the Caribbean, 2018 (NYMUNLAC 2018), which is held at the New York headquarters of the international organization, from April 1 to 5, 2018.
The Latin American students, who represent several educational institutions of their nations, asked young Cuban diplomats about the meaning of representing their country in the foreign service and in particular at the United Nations, the training of Cuban diplomats, as well as the principles governing the foreign policy of the Cuban Revolution.
Among other topics, the students were interested in learning about the electoral process in Cuba, how the country implements and follows up the 2030 Agenda, and its actions in the negotiations at the United Nations.
The Cuban diplomats also answered questions about the battle of the Cuban people and the international community for the lifting of the blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba, how this policy affects Cuba and how the defense of the principles of the diplomacy of the Cuban Revolution is maintained despite the significant deterioration in bilateral relations with the government of the United States.
