Press Release: Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations greets the President of the Palestinian National Authority.

New York, February 22, 2018. The Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations, Ambassador Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo, had a brief meeting on February 20 with Mahmoud Abbas, President of the State of Palestine and of the Palestinian National Authority, who traveled to New York to participate in the Security Council briefing on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian question.

The Cuban diplomat, who was recently re-elected Vice-Chair of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, ratified the commitment and solidarity of the island with the Palestinian cause; as well as its strong support for a comprehensive, just and lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, based on a two-state solution that gives Palestinians the right to self-determination and to have an independent and sovereign State, with its capital in East Jerusalem and respecting the pre-1967 borders.

Rodríguez Camejo also reiterated Cuba's support for the admission of Palestine as a full member of the United Nations.
