The Government of the United States has extended a further attack on the Government and People of the Republic of Cuba by forcing CARICOM Governments to stop all medical relations with Cuba.
The St. Kitts and Nevis Cuba Friendship Association stands in solidarity with the Government and people of Cuba. We call on the people of the United States and the world to resist this new hardship that the Government of the United States wants to place on Cuba and the people of St. Kitts and Nevis and the Caribbean.
We are reminded of Professor Earle Clarke who refused to apply for a US Visa even though we had the opportunity to travel to Cuba via Miami. He chose to pay more and travel a longer route and avoid the US. His resolve to stand up against the unfair blockade against Cuba will never be forgotten.
The history of St. Kitts and Nevis and the Government and People of Cuba is forever etched in our minds. This year will make 30 years of Diplomatic relations between our countries.
Cuba extended the hand of friendship, support and cooperation at a time when our country needed support in health and education. The children of poor people have been empowered by Cuba in the area of education. An opportunity that was only afforded to the children of the well off. Cuba’s contribution to this region cannot be quantified.
In 2020 St, Kitts and Nevis received much needed assistance from Cuba to help the Federation and other islands in or Region and the world in the fight against Covid-19. We are thankful for all the help that we continue to receive from the Government and people of Cuba.
Will we trade the health of our nation to placate the US Government? We say no!
Let us stand together as a Region and rally around our Cuban Medical Professionals who have brought a new level of health care to our Federation and the Region.
We again call on the United States Government and President Trump in particular to stop the BULLYING and leave us to manage our sovereign nations.
Long live the friendship between Cuba, St. Kitts Nevis and the Caribbean Region.
