Viva Cuba!

Cuba has long been a dedicated ally to the Caribbean nations, contributing significantly to the region’s social and economic development. The island has provided support in various sectors, especially in healthcare, where Cuban doctors, nurses, and medical professionals have volunteered their expertise across the Caribbean. Thousands of Cuban-trained medical personnel have helped improve the health sector in nations that otherwise might not have the resources for such care. In addition to healthcare, Cuba has provided scholarships for Caribbean students, enabling many to receive higher education in a variety of fields.

Cuba rejects U.S. decision to incarcerate migrants in the  Guantanamo Naval Base

Cuba rejects the decision announced by the President of the United States to use the Guantanamo Naval Base to imprison tens of thousands of migrants he has proposed to forcibly expel.  It is a demonstration of the brutality with which that government is acting to supposedly correct problems created by the economic and social conditions of that country, the government's own management and its foreign policy, including hostility towards countries of origin.

The United States takes steps in the right direction, but the blockade remains in force.

Despite its limited scope, this is a decision that points to the right direction and is in line with the sustained and firm demand by the government and the people of Cuba, as well as the broad, emphatic and reiterated call by numerous governments, particularly those of Latin America and the Caribbean; Cubans residing abroad; political, religious and social organizations and numerous political figures of the United States and other countries.  The government of Cuba expresses its gratitude to all of them for their contribution and sensitivity.

Statement by Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba, at the presentation of draft Resolution a/79/l.6 entitled “Necessity of ending  the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of Ame

No other country in the world, not even those whose economies are far more robust than the Cuban economy, could cope with such a brutal, asymmetric and long-standing aggression without a considerable cost for the living standards of its population.

With the economic blockade against Cuba, imperialism is warning the whole world that any nation daring to firmly defend its sovereignty and build its own future will pay a price for its rebelliousness.

Categorical rejection of unfounded allegations of interference in US elections

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs rejects, in the strongest possible terms, such allegations.  It likewise deplores the fact that the US government, its State Department and intelligence agencies have not disqualified the direct reference to alleged government agencies  whose authority seem to support those slanderous articles.

Statements by Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla to the national and foreign press

I have to report that Washington has decided to exclude the Republic of Cuba from the preparations for the 9th Summit of the Americas to be held in Los Angeles on 8th to 10th June and is presently exerting extreme pressures on numerous governments in the region which, privately and respectfully, oppose our exclusion. The US government is deceiving public opinion and the governments of the hemisphere, saying it has not yet decided on the invitations. I respectfully ask Secretary of State Blinken to say honestly whether Cuba will or will not be invited to the 9th Summit of the Americas.
