New York, 29 November 2016.- On Tuesday, several United Nations officials, among them Mrs. Jessica Faieta, UN Assistant Secretary-General and UNDP Director for Latin America and the Caribbean and Mrs. Susan McDade, Deputy Assistant Administrator and UNDP Deputy Director for Latin America and the Caribbean visited the Permanent Mission of Cuba to the United Nations to sign the condolence book and convey to Ambassador Ana Silvia Rodríguez Abascal, Charge D’Affaires a.i., their messages of condolences for the Cuban people and Government.
Both officials expressed their sadness on the decease of the Cuban leader. They highlighted the historical importance of Fidel in the international arena and expressed their solidarity with the Cuban people and Government in this moment of deep mourning, which once again evidences the close friendship ties that bring together the UNDP and Cuba.
