Press Release: The United Nations Secretary General pays homage to the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution.

New York, 29 November 2016.- On Tuesday, The United Nations Secretary General, H.E. Mr. Ban Ki Moon, signed the condolence book placed at the Permanent Mission of Cuba to the United Nations, following the decease of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz.

Accompanied by Ambassador Ana Silvia Rodríguez Abascal, Charge D’Affaires a.i., the Secretary General conveyed his condolences to the Cuban people and Government. He remembered the hospitality offered by the leader of the Cuban Revolution during his visit to Cuba and expressed interest in the historical events in the life of Commander Fidel. He handed in a message for the President of the Council of State and of Ministers, Army General Raúl Castro Ruz.

Until Sunday, the Permanent Mission of Cuba to the United Nations 0will keep open a condolence book for those wishing to write their messages. During the whole day, hundreds of people have stopped by the diplomatic headquarters, including Ambassadors from the different countries accredited to the Organization, as well as, intellectuals and members of solidarity groups.
