THE BAHAMAS, July 1, 2016. - Yesterday afternoon, at the residence of the Ambassador of Cuba to The Bahamas, Ismara Vargas Walter, held an activity to bid farewell to the 11 Cuban teachers who completed their mission in this Caribbean country.
On this occasion, the activity was attended by the Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of The Bahamas, Hon. Perry Gladstone Christie, who was also accompanied by the Director of Education Lionel Sands, and directors of the Bahamian schools where the Cuban educators work.
In his speech, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of the work of Cuban collaboration in The Bahamas, particularly in the field of Education and the quality of teaching that for years have provided each of the teachers of the Education Brigade. Likewise, he highlighted the excellent state of relations between the two countries and the interest of further developing and expanding the existing collaboration.
For its part, the Cuban Ambassador highlighted the achievements of the "Felix Varela" Education Brigade in the Bahamas and the importance of the presence of Cuban collaborators not only in Nassau, the capital, but also in other islands of the Bahamian archipelago as Cat Island, Abaco, Eleuthera, Andros, Mayaguana and Freeport.
As part of the activity, the teachers Aymé Iglesias Hernandez and Miriam Julia González Rodríguez spoke on behalf of their colleagues and reaffirmed the willingness of Cuba and particularly the educational brigade, to provide quality education wherever their presence is required.
