The Prime Minister of Barbados, the Honorable Mia Amor Mottley, QC.MP. received the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, Sergio Jorge Pastrana, at his residence in Ilaro Court, together with the Foreign Minister, Foreign Ministry officials and her work team. The Prime Minister shared with the Ambassador a review of the state of bilateral cooperation, its consolidation and increase, and recognition for the special contribution of the contingent of the ¨Henry Reeve¨ Medical Brigade, which was honored for being the representative of the first country that came to the aid of Barbados to confront the pandemic. The initial group of 100 nurses who faced the epidemic and the doctors and laboratory technicians who helped in the front row to contain the scourge of the pandemic received the thanks of the nation, expressed by its President and ratified by the Prime Minister at this meeting. Three nurses and four laboratory technicians received on behalf of all the medals that will gradually be delivered and that accredit their humanitarian feat. In turn, the Embassy of Cuba, among those of other countries and international agencies, received a plaque that acknowledges and appreciates the humanitarian work undertaken by the Government of Cuba in support of Barbados in the face of the threat of the SARS-COV-2 virus. The event, which was held in the main cricket stadium in Barbados, served to recognize all those who contributed to face the scourge of the virus. It should be noted that the first plaque that the President of Barbados presented to a country or international agency was that of Cuba, for being a pioneer in the international support received by the sister Caribbean nation.
