The Honorable Mia Amor Mottley, Prime Minister of Barbados, accompanied by her Chancellor, Senator Jerome Walcott, received Cuban Vice Chancellor, Rogelio Sierra, during his official visit to this country from June 9 to 11, as part of a working tour by several Caribbean islands together with the director of the Caribbean and Central America of the Cuban chancellery, Jorge Luis Mayo, in the framework of the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations. The Cuban ambassador to Barbados, Francisco Fernández, was in attendance. It was a fruitful meeting in which the Prime Minister, in which she received congratulations from the Cuban President for her election and sent him back a similar congratulatory message for his also recent election as President of the Councils of State and Ministers of Cuba. She shared a comprehensive review of the most relevant issues on the bilateral agenda, setting the guidelines for the next actions in the areas of education, health, culture, sports, commerce and business, all aimed at strengthening the relationships that have reached their 45th anniversary. For his part, the Vice Minister extended an invitation from President Diaz-Canel Bermúdez for the Prime Minister Mottley to make an official visit to Cuba, which was also in return reciprocated by her. Barbadian Vice Chancellor Simone Rudder, the director of the Caribbean Unit, Sandra Gittens, the new Chargé d'Affaires in Cuba, Philip St. Hill, and the Cuban Desk official in the chancellery, Corey Archer, were present and made their contributions at the meeting.
