Georgetown, August 19, 2020. The Ambassador of Cuba, Narciso Reinaldo Amador Socorro, paid a courtesy call to the Prime Minister of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, retired Brigadier Hon. Mark Anthony Phillips. The Cuban diplomat congratulated the Prime Minister on his recent appointment to that position and wished him success in the achievement of his high responsibility.
The Prime Minister asked the Ambassador to convey a fraternal greeting to the Cuban government and peoples as well as the gratitude of the new Government of the Progressive People's / Civic Party (PPP / C) for the cooperation that Cuba has historically provided to the Guyanese people. The Ambassador thanked the friendship and solidarity of the PPP / C to the Cuban people, particularly in the confrontation with the economic, commercial, and financial blockade of the United States against Cuba.
Both parties exchanged on the possibilities of cooperation in different areas of common interest and expressed their willingness to work together for the expansion and strengthening of relationships between both countries.
