Kingston, 30 December 2024. The Prime Minister of Jamaica, the Most Honourable Andrew Holness, addressed a message of congratulations to the President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez on the occasion of the 66th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution.
The full text of the message follows:
On behalf of the Government and people of Jamaica, I convey warmest congratulations to the Government and people of the Republic of Cuba, on the occasion of the Sixty-sixth Anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution.
As you commemorate this milestone, Jamaica stands in solidarity with the proud Cuban people, as they remain strong in their resolve for the further social and economic development of their country, particularly, in the face of the challenges and hardships imposed by the unjustified economic, commercial and financial embargo. The courage and resilience of the Cuban people are exemplary and continue to propel the nation in its the pursuit of sustainable development, as it also commendably builds productive relations with other countries towards the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals, in the areas of health and education, through its thoughtful and kind social outreach.
Jamaica continues to cherish the bonds of friendship it shares with Cuba, which bear testament to our strong relations, as grounded in our shared Caribbean identity, mutual respect, spirited cultural exchanges and solidarity. Jamaica remains committed to deepening this relationship and our significant cooperation at the bilateral level, as well as our regional partnerships within CARICOM and engagements at the multilateral level, for the betterment of our peoples.
