KINGTSTON, JAMAICA, January 22, 2018. Prime Minister of Jamaica, Andrew Holnes, welcomed the Cuban Ambassador, Ines Fors Fernandez in courtesy visit.
During the cordial meeting, the Prime Minister highlighted the ties that unite Cuba and Jamaica, which started long before the date diplomatic relations were establish, 8th December 1972.
Holness referred with pride that his country was refuge to many Cuban patriots that fought for independence like Jose Marti, Antonio Maceo and Mariana Grajales.
The Prime Minister also stressed the appreciation his people has for Cuba and the countless examples of solidarity and the permanent cooperation in sensitive areas like health and education.
Likewise, the Cuban Ambassador conveyed a message of gratitude from her country for the support Jamaica has offered in the battle against blockae, in particular, the motions adopted by the Parliament during nine consecutives years.
The meeting was also attended by Thomas Tavares Finson, Presidente of the Senate of Jamaica, who recalled with satisfaction the meeting held with President of Cuba, Raul Castro Ruz, during the VI Summit Cuba-CARICOM, celebrated in Antigua and Barbuda last year and during which he offered as present an original photo of Cuban National Hero, Jose Marti.
