Progressive International demands the removal of Cuba from the terrorist list.

More than 250 organizations globally, grouped in the Progressive International (PI), founded in the United States in 2018, today demand the immediate removal of Cuba from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism.

"Cuba is not a sponsor of terrorism" stated the PI in an appeal letter published on the social network X when explaining that the Caribbean nation is indeed a sponsor, but of health, peace and liberation.

Throughout its revolutionary history, more than 605,000 health professionals and technicians have rendered their services in some 165 countries, the text stressed when referring to Cuban collaboration in that field.

It also said that if there is something Cuba sponsors, it is peace, for its role in the agreements to bring it to Colombia and also of liberation, for the epic of the internationalist forces of the largest of the Antilles in the liberation of Angola, Namibia and the elimination of apartheid in South Africa.

The letter recalled that the island has been suffering for more than six decades from a blockade which, as was set forth in the infamous secret memorandum of April 1960 by the then Undersecretary of State Lester Mallory, was intended to lead to the desperation of the people with the purpose of overthrowing their social project.

They warned that Cubans have limited access to basic resources such as food, medicines and construction materials because of the blockade and that the designation on the arbitrary list of sponsors of terrorism further intensifies this unilateral siege.

In this sense, they mentioned the promise made by Joe Biden when he was a candidate to review the policy towards Cuba.

"We celebrate that Cuba is a promoter of health, peace and liberation", added the open letter that urges mobilization to put an end to the long persecution that the island has suffered by the U.S. Government.

The IP was born in Vermont with its north in the establishment of a more democratic, decolonized, just, egalitarian, supportive, sustainable, ecological, peaceful, post-capitalist, prosperous and pluralist world, according to its promoters.

Senator Bernie Sanders, a resident of that state, is one of the promoters of this global agreement, which also includes artists with recognized social work such as Susan Sarandon, John Cusack and Danny Glover, among other personalities.
