Promoters of Cuban culture were recognized in Finland

Helsinki, October 21, 2023.- This October 20, tribute was paid to the Cuban National Anthem from Finland on the 155th Anniversary of its creation. In an emotional meeting, the Cuban Embassy recognized the filmmakers Pentti Riutto and Pirkko Pasanen for their historical relationship with Cuba and the recent donation of 39 Cuban cultural titles to the headquarters library, obtained throughout their professional career.

Likewise, recognitions were given to the Finland-Cuba Association for its tireless work of cultural promotion in the last 60 years, as well as to t  wo of its members Risto Vourimies and Tero Toivanen, with an outstanding career in the dissemination of Cuban cultural values.

 

The afternoon closed by sharing "La Guantanamera", "Hasta siempre Comandante", "El Chan Chan" and "El cuarto de Tula", among other classics from the traditional Cuban repertoire.

Members of the Finland-Cuba Association, Cubans residing in Finland and friends of the Island met at the Embassy headquarters to enjoy this celebration.

The day of Cuban culture, inaugurated on October 10 in Helsinki, also includes numerous musical activities, conferences, exhibitions and the screening of the film "Innocence" in the cities of Tampere and Turku.

On Friday night the activity continued with the presentation of the group "Bomba Buena" on the grounds of the Groovy Restaurant in the Finnish capital.
