Cuban culture is projected from Puistokulma in Finland

Ambassador Beatriz Parra González arrived at the PuistoKulma cultural center in the province of Vantaa to learn about the excellent projects to promote Cuban cultural values, which are planned for 2025 from this center, with the support of the Cuban-Finnish project "Havana Pink" and other spaces associated with Caribbean culture in Finland. The Caribbean representative thanked Cuba for its presence in this center, which is visited by more than a hundred retirees every week to share music, dance and other cultural events. She also appreciated the words of recognition from choreographer Juan Juan José Pujals, a Cuban resident for three decades in this Nordic nation, for the support offered by the Ambassador, as a pillar of her management, to the promotion of the cultural values ​​of Cuba in Finland, a stage that is about to conclude.

Cuban afternoon organized by the Breast Prosthesis Foundation

Den Dungen, February 2, 2025. The Dutch Foundation “Breast Prosthesis” organized a Cuban afternoon, as a contribution to the promotion of the culture of the Caribbean island in the Netherlands.

The evening featured a combined performance by Cuban and Dutch artists, who delighted participants with several pieces from the traditional Cuban repertoire and a mix of musical rhythms that included cha, cha, cha, bolero, salsa and merengue.

Cuban Embassy in Washington D.C. celebrated Black History Month.

In the context of Black History Month in the United States, the Cuban Embassy in Washington D.C. celebrated the historical and cultural ties of Afro-Americans with the Cuban people.

During the event, those present commented on the different organizations of this sector that have supported Cuba in the struggle for the elimination of the blockade and the visits they have made to the Caribbean nation. They also highlighted the graduation of dozens of American students, mainly Afro-descendants of low income who have studied Medical Sciences on the island.

Promoters of Cuban culture were recognized in Finland

This October 20, tribute was paid to the Cuban National Anthem from Finland on the 155th Anniversary of its creation. In an emotional meeting, the Cuban Embassy recognized the filmmakers Pentti Riutto and Pirkko Pasanen for their historical relationship with Cuba and the recent donation of 39 Cuban cultural titles to the headquarters library. Recognitions were also given to the Finland-Cuba Association, and to two of its members Risto Vourimies and Tero Toivanen, for their tireless work in cultural promotion over the last 60 years.

Day of Cuban Culture begins in Finland

The inauguration of the Cuban Culture Days was held this Tuesday in Helsinki. Greetings at night were brought by the Cuban ambassador Beatriz Parra González and Paula Pere, president of the Finland-Cuba Association. We also heard memories of the first Finnish cultural delegation in Cuba 50 years ago. Finnish musician Tero Toivanen, who has worked as a professional for a long time in Santiago de Cuba, gave an interesting interactive presentation on the rarely heard history of Chanqui and Cuban Son, identity origins of Cuban music.

Representatives of the Cuban Embassy in the Netherlands visited the gallery where plastic works of Cuban creators, exponents of Art Brut, of great talent and artistic sensitivity, were exhibited.
These artists create in response to a strong intrinsic motivation and often work with unconventional materials and techniques.
The exchange served to promote the work of these Cuban artists.

Concert of Cuban and Argentine Music in Haarlem.

Haarlem, September 6, 2023.  Our Embassy once again had the pleasure of accompanying Coro Cantoro and its interpretations of traditional Cuban music, this time in the city of Haarlem. Composed of Dutch amateur artists, Coro Cantoro demonstrates how universal the culture of the Greater Antilles is, and how it can be represented by artists from the most diverse geographies.

Two Argentine musicians also participated in the entertaining show, demonstrating with piano, voice and accordion why Tango is Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
