Tribute to Hubert de Blanck

Amsterdam, August 17, 2023. A heartfelt tribute was paid to the Dutch musician Hubert de Blanck by Cuban artists. "Habanera", "La fuga de la tórtola" and "Capricho cubano" were some of the works performed.

Although he was born in Utrecht, Holland, Hubert de Blanck settled in Cuba and made an important contribution to Cuban culture as a teacher, pianist and composer. It is worth mentioning that in 1885, De Blanck was imprisoned by the Cuban government due to his militancy in the "Revolutionary Junta of Havana", and was later deported. After this he lived in the United States until the end of the War of Independence, at which time he returned to Havana.
