Athens, 28 July. Cuba's ambassador to Greece Zelmys Maria Dominguez Cortina, and the Councilor/Consul of the Embassy of Cuba, José Oriol Marrero Martinez, were received on July 24, at the Chamber of Commerce of Arta, city of the Region of Epirus, Greece, by its President Yannis Golomazos. This meeting is part of the visit to the city and the various activities carried out, during several days of an intense and fruitful work program. They were organized by the Arta Labor Center, whose president was present at the meeting, and Velisarios Kossivakis, director of New Star Art Cinema, friend of Cuba and promoter of the initiative to apply for the Nobel Prize for Cuban medical brigades, who was also present.
Afterwards, both the President and Cuban diplomats and their companions held a meeting with businessmen and members of the House Council, where the ambassador provided information on how to do business and invest in Cuba, as well as offers of exportable products. She further explained the many examples and possibilities of business with Cuba, the existing laws, the facilities provided, the possibilities in the ZED of Mariel, and other topics of interest of the interlocutors.
She also explained how the European Union (EU) is one of Cuba's main trading partners, despite the difficulties of the US's unfair economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba. She also explained the upsurge in the blockade and the EU's chances of addressing the difficulties with antidote laws against Helms Burton, as well as about the recent political dialogue and cooperation agreement between EU and Cuba, which ended the EU's so-called common position towards Cuba.
It was an important opportunity to promote business possibilities with Cuba and explain about Cuban reality. It showed the interest of Greek entrepreneurs and the potentialities of the market.
