Public Meeting – Auck. Sat., 14 Sept., 4pm: Demand the Removal of Cuba from the U.S. ‘State Sponsors of Terrorism’ List!

Dear All,

We invite you to an important public meeting to discuss and advocate for an end to the U.S. embargo and sanctions on Cuba. Now is the time to lift the economic and travel restrictions that have unjustly burdened the Cuban people for over six decades.

Event Details:

  • Date: Saturday, September 14th
  • Time: 4:00 PM
  • Location: Trades Hall, 147 Great North Rd, Grey Lynn

Cuba has made significant strides through its socialist revolution—eliminating illiteracy, establishing free universal healthcare, and empowering women with family planning rights, paid maternity leave, and childcare. Cuban healthcare workers are recognized globally, with 30,000 of them assisting people in need across 67 countries.

Despite these achievements, the U.S. has maintained a relentless economic war against Cuba for over 65 years, now costing the island $4.8 billion annually. The Biden administration continues to enforce sanctions and keeps Cuba on Washington’s baseless "State Sponsors of Terrorism" list, making it difficult for the country to access the world banking system, trade, or import essential goods.

Join us to hear from Cuban Ambassador Morejón, who will discuss how the Cuban government and people are responding to these challenges and the steps we can take to support their struggle for sovereignty and dignity.

Let’s unite to demand the removal of Cuba from the U.S. terror list and the immediate lifting of all economic sanctions.

We look forward to seeing you there!

In solidarity,
Annalucia Vermunt
