Referring to the main achievements and accomplishments that allowed the province to deserve the headquarters of the central event for the event, Federico Hernández Hernández, member of the Central Committee and first secretary of the Party in Granma, stressed that the agriculture sector is revived and advanced , although their contributions are still insufficient.
High-yields of honey, rice and pork are achieved, he said, the results in corn, beans, coffee and fruit trees are encouraging, as well as the recovery of livestock, accompanied by the planting of protein plants and obtaining alternative feed.
He also highlighted the progress in the computerization of society, the use of renewable sources of energy, and the thrust of sectors such as education, sport, culture and health, whose ranks about 3,500 professionals provide medical assistance in 70 countries.
The party leader said that repeated breaches speak of the challenge of continuing to move forward in the sugarcane program, where favorable results are not achieved, and the implementation of housing policy, with emphasis on subsidy attention and the elimination of flooring land.
He thanked Fidel for the legacy of that immense work that is the Cuban Revolution, to Raúl for the accompaniment in the effort to develop the province, and to the people of Granma, true protagonist of everything achieved.
Artists of several generations, both from the patio and guests, sang with joy and high patriotic sense to Fidel and the heroes and martyrs of the deed of July 26, while strongly condemning the US blockade against Cuba, and the resurgence of that hostile policy as of the activation of Title III of the Helms-Burton Act.
Together with the more than 10 thousand guests from across the province and thousands of others from Bayames, brigades and solidarity groups with Cuba participated.
